SQC son Hummam goes to jail in case filed in 2008
A metropolitan magistrate court in Dhaka on Saturday sent a son of war crimes convict Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to jail after police arrested him on charge of murder attempt 8 years ago.
The complaint was lodged with the Gulshan police, police said.
The metropolitan magistrate, Meher Nigar Suchana, sent the man, Hummam Quader Chowdhury, to jail as the Dhanmondi police produced him complying with a warrant for arrest in a case filed with Gulshan police seven years ago.
‘He was arrested at their Dhanmondi residence around 10:30am in a case filed for scuffling,’ said Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (media and public relations), Muntashirul Islam.
It could not be known why actions took 7 years to execute the arrest warrant.
A policeman at the chief metropolitan magistrate court, however, told New Age that the man was charged with attempt to murder, scuffle and burglary.
The case was filed by Shamsul Huda Romel, a son of former inspector general of police, Ashraful Huda, with the Gulshan police in 2008.
Ashraful Huda, however, told New Age that he was not aware about the ‘incident.’
Earlier this March, Shamsul Huda Romel was sent to jail in connection with illicit drug peddling case filed with Banani police.
