Jamilur Reza Choudhury passes away
Former caretaker government adviser Jamilur Reza Choudhury died at his home in Dhaka early Tuesday.
He was 77.
An acclaimed civil engineer and researcher, Jamilur was a national professor and vice-chancellor of University of Asia Pacific.
His family members said he went to sleep last night as usual and when they called him for sehri, he did not respond. He was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead,
Born on 15 November 1943, Jamilur led many projects including advising the Padma bridge project.
Jamilur joined the East Pakistan University of Engineering and Technology 1963 as a lecturer of civil engineering and became a professor in 1976 and continued teaching there till 2001.
He served as vice-chancellor of BRAC University between 2001 and 2010.
Jamilur was a recipient of the Ekushey Padak in 2017. He also received Japanese prestigious award the Order of the Rising Sun.
