First Bangladesh lawmaker tests positive for COVID-19

A senior Bangladeshi parliamentarian and ruling Awami League lawmaker tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Jatiya Sangsad whip Iqbalur Rahim told New Age that the parliament secretariat would take all necessary steps to ensure treatment of the treasury bench lawmaker.

According to the paprliament secretariat officials, Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research sent the test report of the lawmaker, elected form a Naogaon constituency, Friday evening as the sample was sent for the test on Thursday.

They said that the lawmaker, also former whip, came to his NAM flat from his constituency recently.

Iqbalur Rahim said that the name of the infected lawmaker was not disclosed due to privacy.
