Dhaka WASA employees demand risk allowance

Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority’s employees on Monday demonstrated in front of WASA Bhaban at Karwanbazar in the city for seven-point demands, including the permanent appointment of 1,500 co-workers and risk allowances for workers.

Dhaka WASA CBA general secretary Askare Sheikh Ibna Khaja said that the Dhaka WASA management was planning to keep the employees on master-roll for entire life of workers that increased their job insecurity.

He demanded immediate appointment of workers permanently and give them risk allowances as the employees were working under risk of COVID-19.

Several hundred workers of the water and sewerage management organisation gathered in front of the office for hours and declared to continue protest for Tuesday.

CBA leaders declared that their protest would continue until their demands were met.

Dhaka WASA officials however denied making any comment on the topic as they thought that WASA board would decide about it, not the officials.
