Bangladesh on March 8 confirmed the first COVID-19 infections and the first death on March 18.  The country is on the 13th week of the infections.

In the recent weeks, the number of infections and deaths increased manifold.  It is feared that the infections and deaths would increase further as the government on Sunday lifted restrictions on public movement, directed to resume public transports services, businesses and offices, in limited scale, after opening up the markets, mills and malls from May 10.

Nasima said that 6,240 suspected patients were in isolation on Tuesday.

Besides, 523 more people were released from hospitals as they showed no symptom of infections now. So far 11,120 people were declared cured as they show no symptoms now.

Among the 37 new deaths, 28 died at hospitals and nine died at homes. The number of deaths at homes also increased in recent days.

Thirty three of the 37 deceased were males and four were females. Fifteen of them died in Chattogram division and 10 in Dhaka division.
