Zafrullah Chowdhury stable with oxygen support

Physical condition of Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder and trustee board member Zafrullah Chowdhury did not improve but was stable, said GK’s chief executive officer Dr Monjur Kader Ahmed on Saturday afternoon.

Zafrullah had been under artificial oxygen support since Thursday for respiratory problems due to COVID-19 infection, he added.

‘Currently Zafrullah is able to speak a little and is taking soft food items at the capital’s Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital where he was undergoing treatment, said the doctor.

‘We are still giving him oxygen support to ensure that he is stable as there has no improvement over the last few days,’ he added.

The physician said that they found respiratory problems only while his blood pressure, blood sugar and other reports were good.

Officials said that Zafrullah had faced respiratory problems on Thursday night when he was taking regular dialysis at the hospital.

On Friday night doctors again completed his dialysis without facing any difficulties.

On behalf of Zafrullah Chowdhury they requested the country people to pray for him.

Zafrullah’s wife Shirin Haque and his son Barish Chowdhury also tested COVID-19 positive on May 31 and were undergoing treatment at Gonoshasthaya Kendra in the city. They were now doing better, according to doctors.
