BNP MP demands ‘crossfire’ for Regent owner
Opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmaker M Harunur Rashid on Wednesday demanded ‘crossfire’ for the owners of Regent Hospital.
Taking the floor in point of order at Jatiya Sangsad, Harun asked the home minister that why the owner of Regent Hospital was not arrested.
He said that the incident of Regent Hospital just an example of rampant corruption and irregularities in the health sector.
Replying to Harun, prime minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government detected the irregularities and action against the offenders was under process.
Rapid Action Battalion on Tuesday night filed a case against 17 officials and staff members of Regent Hospital, including its chairman Md Shahed, for allegedly faking several thousand COVID-19 certificates and charging people fees for free tests.

Earlier, on Monday, RAB conducted raids at the Uttara and Mirpur branches of the Regent Hospital in Dhaka and found that it forged over 6,000 COVID-19 certificates and embezzled over Tk 3 crore in the name of providing COVID-19 testing facilities and treatments.
