Police interrogate suspects in attack on DU proctorial team
Police officials on Monday interrogated several suspects in an attack on Dhaka University proctorial team members that injured at least four people.
Four members of the university proctorial body came under attack by some outsiders in front of Teacher-Student Centre on the campus on Saturday evening.
Campus sources said that the proctorial team members and some followers of local ward councillor Asaduzzaman Asad scuffled over sitting on chairs.
Later, all the injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Shahbagh police station inspector (investigation) Arifur Rahman told New Age on Monday that they interrogated 6-7 suspects in the incident after the university authority filed a case on Sunday.
Terming the incident a scuffle, councillor Asaduzzaman said that it was regrettable that his followers were summoned to police station.
He also alleged that ‘proctorial team members demanded donation for the Eid’ and they might have shown rough attitudes to his followers as he rejected the demand.
Denying the allegation, DU proctor Golam Rabbani said that he got no such allegation and such kind of remarks was unbecoming for a public representative.
