BNP condemns police killing of ex-army officer, demands probe
Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday condemned the recent death of a retired army officer in police firing at a police checkpoint on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive.
The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, in a statement, also demanded a believable investigation into the death of retired army officer Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan and bring the offenders to book.
‘It is the state’s responsibility to ensure the security of the lives of its citizens. But, for the past one decade of the present government, the state is showing continuous inactiveness and failure to ensure this basic right of its citizens,’ Fakhrul said in the statement.
He, referring to the accounts of rights organisations, said that several thousand people were killed in the hands of Rapid Action Battalion and police.
He said that the countrymen were angered once again at the death of the former army officer.
