Railway relaxes rule that made NID must to buy tickets, travel
Railway authorities on Thursday relaxed the new mandatory system for train passengers to show each of their national identity cards for buying tickets and travelling.
From now on, during travel, the passengers would not have to show their NID cards and maximum four train tickets for a family could be purchased by showing one NID card, said a notice issued by the railways ministry.
On August 13, the railways ministry issued a notice asking the intercity train passengers to travel with tickets they bought themselves online and refrain from travelling with tickets borrowed or bought from others to check ticket sale on the black market.
Later, on August 16 during a visit to the Kamalapur railway station railways minister Nurul Islam Sujan said that people would have to show four NIDs for buying four train tickets and it would not be allowed to buy four tickets by showing only one NID.
The notice issued on Thursday said that the authorities relaxed the new system at present to facilitate the passengers.
