Three Sinha murder accused produced before court

Three accused in the murder case of retired army major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan were produced before a court in Cox’s Bazar on Wednesday morning for giving confessional statement under section 164.

The accused are Nurul Amin, 21, Nizam Uddin, 42, and Ayas Uddin, 40.

They agreed to give the confessional statement before the court after passing the first day of their three-day remand.

Rapid Action Battalion-15 senior assistant police superintendent Mohammad Khairul Islam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court of senior judicial magistrate Tamanna Farah at about 10:15am.

The court passed a fresh three-day remand for each of them on Tuesday.

Their medical check-ups were conducted at the Cox’s Bazar General Hospital in the morning, the RAB officer said.

Earlier, the same court put a seven-day remand on each of the three on August 12 and a four-day remand for the second time on August 20.

Earlier, the prime accused in the case, suspended Baharchara Investigation Centre officer-in-charge Liyakat, who shot Sinha, and sub-inspector Nanda Dulal, and three other APBN members also gave confessional statements before the same court.

Sinha, 36, who took early retirement from the Bangladesh Army in November 2018, was shot dead at a police checkpoint on Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive at Shamlapur under Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar on July 31.

Seven policemen, including the then Teknaf police officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das, surrendered before the court following a case filed by Sinha’s family.
