Syed Mohsin Ali laid to rest in Moulvibazar
Social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali was laid to eternal rest beside his parents’ graves at Shah Mostafa Mazar at Darjirmahal in the district town on Wednesday.
The burial took place around 5:00 pm after a namaz-e-janaza at Moulvibazar Government High School ground around 4:00pm. He was given state of honour before the burial.
Earlier, the body of the late minister brought here from the capital around 12:30 pm by a helicopter.
Later, his body was taken to his village home in Darjirmahal. His body was then taken to Moulvibazar Government High School ground where people from all walks of life gathered to show their last respect to him.
The late minister’s first namaz-e-janaza was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad in the morning.
President Abdul Hamid and prime minister Sheikh Hasina paid rich tributes to late valiant freedom fighter and social welfare minister Syed Mohsin Ali by placing wreaths on his coffin at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
The president and the prime minister separately placed wreaths on the coffin of Mohsin Ali and stood there in solemn silence for some time as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also paid homage by placing a wreath on Mohsin Ali’s coffin.
President Abdul Hamid, ministers, deputy speaker, lawmakers, senior leaders of different political parties, including Awami League, as well as officials and employees of the parliament secretariat attended Syed Mohsin Ali’s janaza.
After the janaza, a smartly turned out contingent of the Bangladesh police gave guard of honour to late Syed Mohsin Ali, who was an elected member of the parliament from Moulvibbazar-3 constituency.
Earlier, a flight of Singapore Airlines carrying the body of the late minister landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital around 10:50pm on Tuesday.
Social Welfare Minister Syed Mohsin Ali, who was undergoing treatment at Singapore General Hospital, died on Monday morning at the age of 67.
