BNP condemns sexual assault on Noakhali woman
Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Monday condemned and protested at the sexual harassment and torture on a 37-year-old woman in Noakhali after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
The party alleged that the law and order situation had deteriorated in the country due to the government’s misrule.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the allegation in a statement sent to media outlets on Monday evening.
Terming the Noakhali incident as demonic behaviour, he alleged that murders, enforced disappearances, abductions and extrajudicial killings, torture on women and children were happening as the country had no rule of law.
‘Such inhuman acts are increasing gradually due to the government’s misrule and increase of their misdeeds,’ he alleged.
Fakhrul added that such incidents were increasing as the offenders in the earlier incidents went unpunished.
‘Now the miscreants are taking law in their own hands,’ he said.
Fakhrul said also demanded an immediate arrest and exemplary punishment for the offenders involved in Noakhali incident.
