BRU teachers’ platform publishes Report on VC’s corruption

Adhikar Surakkha Parishad, a platform of teachers, students and staff of the Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur, on Saturday published a 760-page report depicting 111 allegations of corruptions and irregularities of the university vice-chancellor Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah.

The report included allegations and proves based on university documents, University Grants Commission investigation, and newspaper reports.

It stated that Kalimullah remained absent at his office for 90 per cent of the working days not following the clause of his appointment letter for coming to the university regularly.

He was involved in corruptions related to the development activities on the campus, recruitment of teachers and staff, and admission of students, the report said.

The VC used to use the university properties for his NGO, and he used to force teachers and staff of the university to purchase attires from his wife’s outlets through imposing dress-codes, the paper stated.

The UGC already submitted an investigation report to the education ministry after finding proves of his irregularities in case of development of two 10-storey buildings and a monument, the report said.

The commission was also conducting separate investigations of 46 other allegations of corruption and irregularities against Kalimullah, it added.

Begum Rokeya University teachers Matiur Rahman, Mahamudul Haque, Mashiur Rahman, among others, were present at the report publishing programme.
