Salla OC suspended over attack on Hindus

The officer-in-charge of Salla police station was suspended and the OC of Diraj police station was withdrawn for their negligence in carrying out duties over an attack on the Hindu community in Salla upazila of Sunamganj in the last month.

Salla police officer-in-charge Nazmul Haque was suspended and Dirai OC Ashraful Islam was withdrawn and transferred to Moulvibazar over the incident.

Sunamganj district police superintendent Mizanur Rahman said that the decision was taken on Tuesday.

Several hundred people from three villages attacked the Hindu community at village Naogram of Salla upazila in Sunamganj and damaged dozens of houses on March 17 following a Facebook post by a Hindu youth against Hefazat-e-Islam joint secretary general Mamunul Haque.
