Upcoming Budget Must Prioritize Employment

Saving people’s employment was discussed to give highest priority in the upcoming national budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 at the talk show Tritiyo Matra on Monday.

The discussion held between Taufiqul Islam Khan, Senior Research Fellow, Center for Policy Dialogue and Mohammad Hatem, 1st Vice President of BKMEA and Senior Vice President of EAB.

Taufiqul Islam Khan urged to give highest priority on employment, who lost their work during pandemic.

He also said, “We need to allocate our budget, where it is actually needed in general and we must have implementation capacity during this crisis moment.”

The target for revenue collection in the upcoming budget should be realistic, he also said.

At the same time, he focused on imposing more tax on rich businessmen. Previous year they had considered paying less tax for their business. It should be reconsidered this year and taken to its previous place.

Mohammad Hatem emphasized, to accelerate the export sector in the upcoming budget.  

He also requested rations for the workers in this situation, where workers can buy daily necessity at low cost. 

At the same time, “HS code should be allocated rapidly from laboratory because it is hampering the export sector.’’ Said Mohammad Hatem.
