Three of a family burnt in fire at Mohammadpur

Three members of a family, including a two-year-old child, were burnt in a fire at a tin-shed house in Mohammadpur area in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka early Saturday.

They were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

The fire broke out at Navday Housing in Mohammadpur area at about 3:00am on Saturday.

The injured are Sohail, 32, his wife Laboni Akhter Hawa, 23, and their two-year-old son Md Mosalin.

On-duty doctors at the institute said that Sohail received 75 per cent burn injuries on his body, Labani 30 per cent, and the baby received 70 per cent burn injuries on its body.

They said that the condition of all the victims was serious.

Rupa Akhter, a neighbor of the victims, who took the trio to the hospital, said she heard a cry inside their house and noticed the fire in the victims’ room at about 3:00am.

Sohail and Laboni were outside the room and their bodies were also on fire. And the baby was inside the room.

Locals then extinguished the fire and rushed the injured to the hospital.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
