DGHS expects govt decision on lockdown recommendation for 7 dists

The Directorate General of Health Services expects a decision from the government over the recommendation of imposing lockdown on seven bordering districts of Bangladesh for an alarming increase in Covid cases.

‘The health service’s expert committee has made the lockdown recommendation for increasing Covid-19 cases in seven bordering districts,’ DGHS line director Robed Amin said at a virtual press briefing.

The districts recommended for lockdown are Naogaon, Natore, Satkhira, Jashore, Rajshahi, Kushtia and Khulna.

Robed said that the increased transmission in the bordering districts was caused by a number of variants of the coronavirus, including the Indian variant.
