Arrival of Pfizer Covid vaccines in Bangladesh delayed: DGHS

The arrival of over 1 lakh doses of Pfizer’s Covid vaccines from Covax, a global vaccine alliance, in Bangladesh has been delayed for 10 to 12 days, said Directorate General of Health Services.

‘Who will get the Covax vaccines will be decided after the arrival of the supply of vaccines,’ said DGHS line director Robed Amin at a virtual press conference in the afternoon.

He said that the Pfizer vaccine is highly sensitive which requires to be preserved at -70°C.

Bangladesh was expecting 1.06 lakh doses of Pfizer vaccine from Covax to arrive today.

The Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccines that China gifted to Bangladesh have been given to 501 medical and nursing students who are currently under a week’s observation.

The vaccines are also being given to Chinese workers in Bangladesh, said Robed.
