Lightning strikes kill 6 in Chattogram, Feni
At least six people were killed and two others sustained injuries by lightning strikes in Chattogram and Feni on Sunday.
Three people including two women were killed in lightning in Chattogram district’s Mirsharai and Fatikchhari area on Sunday.
The deceased are Sazzad Hoosain Tareq, 16, son of Mosharaf Hossain, of Shahebkhali area in Mirsharai upazila, Bhanu Shill, 40, wife of Zogendra Shill, and Luky Das, 38, wife of Banesshor Das, of Kanchannagar area in Fatikchhari upazila, said officials.
Sazzad Hoosain Tareq was killed in lightning at about 10:00am while working in a field at Shahebkhali area in Mirsharai, Md Mozibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Mirsharai police station, told New Age.
Sazzad’s father Mosharaf Hossain was also injured in lightning, the OC said.
Bhanu Shill and Luky Das were killed in lightning at about 8:45am at Kanchannagar area in Fatikchhari while working in the field, Md Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Fatikchhari police station, told New Age.
Two other women were also struck by lightning and they were hospitalised, the police officer added.
United News of Bangladesh reports, two people including a minor boy were killed when a thunderbolt struck them at Alampur village in Sonagazi upazila in Feni in the morning.
The deceased are Sazeda Akter Sathi, 15, a madrassah student and daughter of Soleman of Alampur village and Al Amin, 6, and son of Mohammad Bahar of Charsahabikari village in the upazila.
A streak of thunderbolt hit them while they went to the Feni River amid rain, said Ishak Khokon, chairman of Bagadana Union.
