The allocation for the education and health sector in the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year of 2020-21 will fail to minimize the problem of our education sector and health sector.

This budget do not allocate fund by the discussion with public and all ministries, discussed by the guests at Tritiyo matra yesterday

One of the navigator, Mohammad Moinul Islam Professor of Dhaka University, Population Sciences addressed, our labor market is in big threats due to corona.

According to our demographic model, the number of elderly people will increase after 2031. This budget should have been considered the issue of achieving demographic dividend but this budget did not used to achieve the demographic dividend, said by the guest Moinul Islam.

At the same time, he said, ‘Our GDP growth and per capital income have been increased but the unemployment rate has been terribly increased.’ said by Mohammad Moinul Islam.

Every year two million new labor come into labor market. It is very challenging to create new employment for them due to covid crisis. Meanwhile, One core and thirty one lakh labor have been gone abroad for work, where they are facing lack of employment due to pandemic.

During this crisis, this budget should balance between the global labor market and the local labor market to save our labor.

On the other hand, ensuring vaccines for every worker should be a priority in our budget as labor health security will increase more productivity.

There are no guidelines for women's participation in our budget. Women should be more involved in our labor market for the development of Bangladesh.

Another navigator, Dr. Fahmida Khatun, the executive director of the Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) said, the allocation for poor people is alleviated in this budget. By this decision, the safety of the population is under threat.

She also urged not to take 15% tax from private universities. University Grants Commission needs to surveil whether the money invested for student’s improvement of education or not.
