Dhaka Edn Board begins HSC exam registrations June 29

The Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education asked colleges on Friday to begin fill in forms by students to take Higher Secondary Certificate examinations of 2021 amid coronavirus situation.

In a press release issued on Friday, the board asked the college principal and other concerned people to carry out the programme from June 29 to July 11 following health regulations.

The board asked the educational institutions not to collect fees for test examinations as that would not be held this year.

Students will have to fill in the forms online while fees will have to be submitted through Sonali Bank branches.

Information on students will be published on the board website (www.dhakaeducationboard.gov.bd) on June 28.

The release also gave detailed information on the procedures, fee rates and syllabus.

Education minister Dipu Moni, on June 13, told the press that the government was reviewing the whole process of examinations, including the SSC, HSC and university admission examinations, as Covid infections were on the rise.

Earlier the government in 2020 cancelled the Primary Education Completion, Junior School Certificate and HSC examinations because of the closure of educational institutions for Covid since March 17, 2020.

According to the latest decision of the government, the closure will continue till June 30.

Usually the SSC examinations are held in February and the HSC in April while the government in December 2020 planned to hold the 2021 SSC examinations in June and the 2021 HSC in August.

Some 25 lakh students are scheduled to take SSC examinations and some 15 lakh students to take HSC examinations in 2021.

Dhaka Education Board controller of examination Professor SM Amirul Islam told New Age on Friday night that there is a possibility of extending the deadline for form fill in procedure considering the lockdown situation.

Replying a question, he said that the form fill in procedure would be conducted online while the college authorities could collect fees for it via different virtual means.
