Couple held for torturing 12-yr-old domestic help in Dhaka

A couple was arrested Saturday night over torturing their 12-year-old domestic help at Topkhana road in Dhaka.

The arrestees are Md Tanvir Ahsan and his wife Nahid, a lawyer by profession, said media and public relations wing of Bangladesh Police in a press release early Sunday.

On Saturday night, one of their neighbours posted some photos of the maid Sweety on Facebook and requested help from law enforcement agency.

The media and public relations wing asked officer-in-charge of Ramna Md Monirul Islam and officer-in-charge of Shahbag Moudud Hawladar to take immediate action.

Teams from both the police stations rushed the scene. After finding out the incident was under Shahbag police station, a team of police led by inspector (operations) Mohammad Kamruzzaman of Shahbagh police station rescued the girl and arrested the couple.
