108 more die at Covid units in 8 districts in Bangladesh

A total of 108 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in eight districts in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Thursday morning.

The districts are Rajshahi, Khulna, Satkhira, Kushtia, Mymensingh, Jhenaidah, Chuadanga and Chattogram.

Of the deceased, 18 died in Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, 22 in four hospitals in Khulna, 10 in Satkhira Medical College Hospital, 17 in Kushtia, 17 in Mymensingh, 11 in Chuadanga, four in Jhenaidah and nine in Chattogram, New Age correspondents in the districts, quoting officials of the hospitals and health department, reported.

Of the deceased, 59 were Covid positive patients and 49 others had symptoms of Covid infection.

New Age’s Rajshshi University correspondent, quoting Rajshshi Medical College Hospital director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany, reported that 18 patients — eight Covid positive patients and 10 having symptoms — died at the Covid units of the hospital in the past 24 hours.

In Khulna, nine patients — eight of them Covid positive patients and the remaining ones having Covid symptoms — died at the Covid Dedicated Hospital, eight Covid positive patients died at Gazi Medical College Hospital, three Covid patients died at Sheikh Abu Naser Hospital and two more Covid patients died at Khulna General Hospital during the timeline, New Age correspondent in Khulna, quoting officials of the hospitals, reported.

New Age Islamic University correspondent, quoting Kushtia civil surgeon Anowarul Islam, reported that 10 Covid positive patients and seven others having symptoms died at the Covid units of Kushtia Sadar Hospital in the past 24 hours.

In Chuadanga, three Covid positive patients and eight others having symptoms died at the Covid unit of Chuadanga Sadar Hospital between Wednesday 8:00am and Thursday 8:00am, Chuadanga civil surgeon ASM Maruf said.

In Jhenaidah, three Covid positive patients and another having symptoms died in the past 24 hours, said the district civil surgeon.

New Age correspondent in Satkhira, quoting the SaMCH superintendent Kudrat-e-Khuda, reported that 10 patients having symptoms died at the Covid units of the hospital in the past 24 hours.

New Age correspondent in Mymensingh, quoting the district civil surgeon Nazrul Islam, reported that 17 patients — five Covid positive patients and 12 others having symptoms — died in the Covid units of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.

New Age correspondent in Chattogram, quoting the district civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, reported that a total of nine Covid positive patients died at hospitals in the district in past 24 hours.
