People gather city markets, roads creating huge traffic

A huge number of people were seen at the roads and markets in the capital as the government eased the 14-day strict restriction on public movement and business operations for eight days from Thursday.

A good number of people were seen in the capital’s New Market, Haque Super Market and Gausia market buying goods violating coronavirus health rules including wearing mask and maintaining social distancing.

Many people were seen with luggage as they were leaving the city for celebrating Eid-ul-Azha to be held on July 21.

However, maximum city buses were seen running half of its seating capacity while few buses were seen taking standing passengers.

Dina Rahman, a standing passenger on Winner bus said, ‘I requested the contractor to take me in the bus. I have to go to my home to meet my mother as I have been at my in-law’s house for the past 20 days.’
