JMB ‘top leader’ arrested in Basila

The Rapid Action Battalion said on Thursday that they arrested a ‘top leader’ of banned extremist outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen during a raid at Basila in capital’s Mohammadpur area in the early morning.

The battalion officials identified the arrested man as Emdadul Haque alias Master Uzzal and said that they seized a pistol and bullets, Tk three lakh in cash, locally made bulletproof vest, bomb making chemical, and books propagating extremism from him.

Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of the legal and media wing at RAB, disclosed the news in a briefing.

He said that the two people rented the house on September 2 introducing themselves as employees at a printing press.

He said that the person was arrested in connection with the recent arrest of four other JMB men in a similar raid.

He said that they took the arrested man to their Uttara headquarters for interrogation.
