Man killed in Khulna pre-polls violence
A man was killed in pre-polls violence at Modhupur union of Terkhada upazila in Khulna on early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Babul Shikdar, 38, resident of village Kulapatgati of the upazila. He was a supporter of Awami League-backed chairman candidate Md Mohosin.
The police, quoting local people, said that supporters of AL rebel chairman candidate Kamal Hossain attacked Babul at about 12:15am and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him in a critical condition.
Local people rescued Babul and sent him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he died from his injuries at about 6:15am.
Terkhada police station acting officer-in-charge Johurul Alam said that they visited the spot and were trying to arrest the killers.
The body was kept at Khulna Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations, he added.
Voting is going on at seven Union Parishads of Terkhada and Rupsa upazilas in Khulna as part of the third phase union parishad polls.
