Fire breaks out at Ctg Zahur hawkers market

A fire broke out at Zahur Hawkers’ Market in Chattogram on Friday evening.

The fire broke out at about 9:30pm, Chattogram fire service and civil defence deputy director Anisur Rahman told New Age.

‘Ten fire engines from three fire stations were working to douse the fire till 10:20pm,’ he said.

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, he added.

Kotwali police station officer-in-charge Mohammad Nezam Uddin told New Age that the fire broke out at the middle part of the market. Fire service was working to douse the fire till submission of this report at 10:30pm.

The police officer said that no casualties were reported till 10:30pm.

Zahur hawkers market is the largest wholesale and retail market for clothes in Chattogram.
