RMG workers on streets again protesting at commodity price hike
Several thousand readymade garment workers on Sunday came out to the streets from their factories and blocked roads in the capital’s Mirpur area protesting at the price hike of essential commodities.
The workers of different RMG factories joined protests and blocked road halting vehicular movements on Sunday morning.
Protesting workers said that they were in dire straits and could not buy minimum essentials for their families due to the unchecked rise in their prices.
The protesters are demanding that the prices of all essential commodities must come down or their salaries must go up.
The workers came out to streets in the morning and blocked roads, said Pallabi police sub-inspector Salma Begum.
No violent incident was reported.
Earlier on Saturday afternoon, a bus of the Border Guard Bangladesh was vandalised and three motorcycles were torched during the protests of RMG workers.
