Police stop IAB march towards Indian High Commission
Police on Thursday stopped the marchers of Islami Andolan Bangladesh at Shantinagar crossing at around noon.
IAB began their march from Baitul Mokarram National Moisque’s north gate for the Indian High Commission in Dhaka protesting against derogatory remarks made by Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson against Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM) recently.
IAB amir Syed Mohammad Rezaul Karim led the march and the police stopped the march when it reached Shantinagar crossing minutes after 12:15pm.
A five-member party delegation later went to the Indian High Commission in Dhaka and handed over a memorandum to the embassy officials, said the party leaders.
The memorandum demanded punishment for the persons who made the insulting comment about Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SM).
Prior to the march, leaders and activists of the party held a rally in front of the Baitul Mokarram National Mosque.
