CEC advises contestants to violence with violence

The CEC came up with the remark during the first meeting of its scheduled dialogue with registered political parties.

The first meeting was held with the Nationalist Democratic Movement at Nirbachon Bhaban in Dhaka.

The CEC said that the Election Commission cannot stop violence during the polls and called on the political parties to take responsibility.

Suggesting parities to go to the field, and play, he said, ‘We are referees. We have many powers.’

Following the CEC's remarks, NDM chairman Bobby Hajjaj said that the law does not permit them to stand with shotguns
