Youngman stabbed to death over trifling issue in Keraniganj

An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of men following an argument over jumping a queue at an NID centre in Dhaka’s Keraniganj upazila on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Murad, son of Mojibur Rahman.

Shahabuddin Kabir, additional SP of Keraniganj police, said that Murad, along with his friend Nafi, went to Nayabazar Degree College at Narandi intersection to get a photo clicked for his NID.

An argument broke out between Murad and a group of young men, led by Shaheb Ali of village Shilaritola, over jumping the queue at the college. The men had also come there for the same purpose.

And when Murad was returning to his home, Shaheb and others stabbed Murad multiple times, leaving him injured. Murad’s friend Nafi also sustained injuries while trying to save him, the additional SP said.

Murad died on the way to a local hospital while Nafi has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.

‘No complaint has been lodged in connection with the murder,’ said Kabir.
