SAMIUL MURDER : Prime suspect Kamrul brought back from Saudi Arabia

Kamrul Islam, the prime suspect in the sensational killing of 13-year-old boy Samiul Alam Rajon, was brought back to Sylhet from Saudi Arabia on Thursday evening.
Sylhet Metropolitan Police additional deputy commissioner Rahmat Ullah, a member of the three-member team of police that went to Saudi Arabia to bring back Kamrul, confirmed New Age that Kamrul was brought back to the city at about 8:45pm.
The three-member team led by additional deputy inspector general Mahbubul Karim reached Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka in the afternoon along with Kamrul from Saudi Arabia, police officials said.
Kamrul was taken to Sylhet from Dhaka by road, they said.
‘Kamrul would be produced before the Sylhet Metropolitan Session Judge’s Court on Friday,’ Rahmat Ullah said.
The police team, which included Sylhet district police assistant superintendent AFM Nizam Uddin, went to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on October 12 to bring back Kamrul with the help of Interpol.
On July 21, Interpol issued a notice in this connection after the Saudi interior ministry had approved the extradition of Kamrul to Bangladesh.
Six policemen testified before the Sylhet Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court on Thursday in the case filed for torturing Samiul to death in the city on July 8, reported United News of Bangladesh.
The accused, including Kamrul of Sheikhpara village under sadar upazila in Sylhet and his brothers Ali Haidar, Muhith Alam and Shamim Ahmad, beat Samiul to death on July 8 branding him a thief when he went to Sheikhpara to sell vegetables.
Samiul was the eldest of two sons of Sheikh Azizul Islam, a microbus driver of Bade Ali village under the same upazila.
Kamrul left the country for his work place in Saudi Arab two days after the incident on July 11 and the Saudi police arrested him in Jeddah on July 13.
Sylhet metropolitan sessions judge Akbar Hossain Mridha recorded the  testimonies Jalalabad police station officer-in-charge Akhter Hossain, its suspended inspector (investigation) Alamgir Hossain, sub-inspector Ariful Islam, sub-inspector Shamim Akanji, assistant sub-inspector Sohel Rana and sub-inspector Mohadeb Basar of Dirai police station of Sunamganj.
Victim’s father’s counsel Emadullah Shahidul Islam Shaheen said that 35 of the 38 prosecution witnesses had already testified before the court.
