SCHOOLBOY SHOOTING : MP Manjurul denied bail

Additional chief judicial magistrate Mohammad Waheduzzaman passed the orders after hearing two petitions filed by Manjurul on October 21 seeking bail in the two cases.
The Investigation officer of the cases, Mohammad Zinnat Ali, also the Sundarganj police station officer-in-charge (investigation), said that Manjurul was sent to jail.
Manjurul’s defence counsel Sirajul Islam Babu said that they would go to higher court against the rejection of the petitions.
Earlier, the police arrested Manjurul on October 14 at a house at Uttra in Dhaka in the cases. He was taken to Gaibnadha and produced before the court on October 15, when additional chief judicial magistrate Moinul Hasan Yousuf sent him to jail.
Manjurul, lawmaker from Gaibandha-1 (Sundarganj), allegedly shot at schoolboy Shahadat Hossain Sourav, 9, on early October 2, when the boy went for a walk along with his paternal uncle on nearby road at Gopalcharan village of Sundarganj upazila.
Shahadat’s father Sazu Miah filed the attempt to murder case against Manjurul with Sundarganj police station on October 3.
Shahadat, a fourth grade student, has been undergoing treatment at paediatric surgery ward of Rangpur Medical College Hospital since October 2.
