Khaleda blames Hasina, AL, police, RAB for killings

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia, now in London, on Sunday held prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her party Awami League and law enforcers responsible for all recent killings in Bangladesh.
‘Hasina and Awami League are directly involved in the accidents now taking place and police and RAB are also involved,’ Khaleda said while addressing a gathering in London.
The BNP chairperson urged the international community to stop recruiting RAB in UN peace mission and stop supply of ammunition to it, otherwise, she warned, innocent people and foreigners would die in their hands.
Khaleda was addressing a civic meeting organised at auditorium of Park Plaza in London by the BNP United Kingdom chapter.
BNP leaders and activists and Bangladeshi expatriates in the UK and other Europe countries joined the function.
Branding Hasina as ‘lady Hitler’, she said the ‘lady Hitler’ established monarchy in the country out of greed for power.
‘Now monarchy rules Bangladesh and a lady Hitler established the monarchy with the help of her soldiers, that is, those in administration working to this end,’  she said.
Repression and injustice have crossed all limits of tolerance of people, she added.
On the recent killing of an Italian citizen at Gulshan in Dhaka, Khaleda said street light was switched off when Cesaer Tavella was shot from close distance.
She questioned, ‘Why was the light off and is BNP responsible for it?’
She said BNP leader M Quayum has been blamed for the killing but he is not at all involved in the killing.
‘Hasina tells lies and has unleashed repression on people,’ she said.
She called for forging national unity to save the country and vowed to carry forward struggle until restoration of democracy.
On her return to Bangladesh, Khaleda said she had come to London for treatment and meet family members and said she was well now.
She said she would return home considering the prevailing situation in the country and accomplish the unfinished work of reorganisation of her party.
She said Sheikh Hasina after the killing of her father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, in an interview with the BBC, had said that she (Hasina) would go to Bangladesh to take revenge.
Khaleda said she (Hasina) did not come to build the country but to destroy it.
The BNP chairperson said Hasina frequently spoke about militancy to scare foreigners and make them understand that militancy would resurface if BNP would come to power.
She said the BNP will never split and all conspiracies in the past to break the party went in vain.
BNP senior vice-chairman Tarique Rahman, BNP chairperson’s advisory council member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury and local leaders addressed the gathering presided over by UK BNP president MA Malique. Zobaida Rahman, wife of Tarique Rahman, was also present at the programme.
Khaleda arrived in London on September 16 for her treatment, particularly for eye treatment, and meet her elder son Tarique Rahman and other family members.
