President, PM’s treatment at foreign hospitals criticised

Citizens’ Rights Movement on Thursday said Bangladesh’s top executives, such as, the president, the prime minister and ministers, seek medical treatments in foreign countries that indicate that qualities of public and private sector health care at home are poor.
They demanded establishment of world class hospitals in the country to make sure proper medical treatment for its citizens.
President of Citizens’ Rights Movement, a not-for-profit organisation, Mofizul Haque Sarker, raised the demand during a human chain in front of Jatiya Press Club.
Among others, Tushar Rehman, secretary of the organisation, journalist Ayatullah Akhtaruzzaman and Green Club general secretary Asish Kumar Dey, also spoke.
They placed a seven-point demand, including a ban on private practices by the public doctors, enhancing remuneration of special physicians and upgrading district-level hospitals and medical colleges.
