‘Inclusive social, political, atmosphere a need’

Danish ambassador Hanne Fugl Eskjaer stressed the need for creating an inclusive social and political atmosphere in Bangladesh.
‘Denmark wants to see an inclusive social and political environment in Bangladesh as a friend and development partner of the country,’ the ambassador said at a prize distribution ceremony in Dhaka on Monday.
She also emphasized on taking steps to contain corruptions as what she believed it leads to the violation of human rights.
Transparency International Bangladesh organised the programme for handing over the prizes to the winners of 10th Anti-Corruption Cartoon and Photography Competition.TIB’s Board of Trustees chairman Sultana Kamal, who presided over the function, expressed firm determination that the TIB would keep fighting against corruption.
Contestants were divided into two categories in the anti-corruption cartoon competition. In group A (age 13-18 years), Ashraful Islam secured first position while Mahatab Rashid and Aniqa Bushra Chowdhury stood second and third respectively. Arafat Karim got first prize while Dipankar Singha and Toma Saha secured second and third prizes in the group B (age 19-25 years).
TIB also awarded prizes to cartoonists and photographers on the topic of climate finance governance. Nasreen Sultana Mitu was the first prize winner and Arafat Karim and Md. Hasan Mahmud got second and third prizes respectively.
In the anti-corruption photo competition, Shafiqul Alam bagged the first prize while Fakrul Islam and Pronab Krishna Roy second and third prizes respectively.
Sixteen photographers including three New Age photojournalists Indrajit Ghosh, Md Saurav and Sony Ramany received special mention award for their outstanding pictures.
