Hindu community worried over attacks on temples

Leaders of the Hindu community on Friday urged the government to arrest attackers on temples and religious gatherings and ensure exemplary punishment of the culprits.
The government should take proper steps to ensure adequate protection of the community on the eve of the up-coming municipal elections, the leaders said.
Leader of Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote raised the demands at a human chain in front of National Press Club in the capital.
Hindu community became worried of ongoing violent attacks on temples and religious gatherings, they said.
They said violent attacks against Hindus were increasing day by day while the government failed to stop such repeated attacks.
At the human chain, they condemned the attack on Arjun Bishwas at Netrokona, attempt to murder Rabindranath Roi and Alok Sen and throwing of petrol bombs inside Iskon Hindu temple at Dinajpur.
They urged the government to establish a minority affairs ministry for ensuring rights, security and representation of Hindu community in the parliament.
Bangladesh Jatiya Hindu Mahajote presidium members Kalipad Majumdar, Manoj Kumar, Sonali Das, Gabinda Chandra Pramanik, Manik Chandra Sarkar, among others, spoke at the rally presided over by Advocate Dinbandhu Roi.
