SHIA MOSQUE ATTACK : No headway in probe
There is almost no headway in probe in one month after the gun-attack at a Shia mosque in Bogra that killed one and injured three on November 26.
The five-member committee, formed by the district police to probe the incident, is yet to submit their report, said sources in Bogra police.
They said that the committee was not given any specific time to complete their probe.
The investigator of the case, Kamruzzaman Mia, however, claimed they had arrested six people in the case and already identified the attackers but it was not possible to publish findings for the sake of investigation.
He said they had arrested JMB ehsar member Anwar Hossain, madrassah student Jewel Mia and a madrssah director Shamsul Alam in this connection and got ‘important information’ from them.
The police officer, however, declined to name the remaining three people and the ‘important information’ relating to the case.
‘We have advanced a lot and would provide “good news” in connection with the case,’ head of the district police’s five-member committee, Arifur Rahman Mandal, also the district additional superintendent of the case, told New Age.
Bangladesh Imamia Janakalyan Foundation chairman Abu Zafar Mandal, who is a top leader of the community in Bogra, declined to make any comment on the issue.
The November 26 gun-attack killed praying muajjin of the mosque, Moyajjem Hossain, and injured three – the mosque’s imam Shahinur Islam and devotees Abu Taher and Aftab Hossain.
The mosque’s treasurer Sona Mia lodged a case with Shibganj police station in this connection without naming anyone.
