Khaleda urges voter to go to cast votes

Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday urged voters to go to the polling stations and cast their vote in the election to the 234 municipal councils slated for Wednesday.
Inaugurating biennial council session and election-2015 of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalist faction at Supreme Court Bar Association auditorium, she said that recent survey of upcoming municipal polls conducted by the Awami League showed its ‘debacle’ although the ruling party propagated its massive victory in the survey.
Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif recently referring to a survey claimed that AL mayoral candidates would win in 210 of the 234 municipalities that would go to the polls of Wednesday.
Khaleda said people were now eagerly waiting to cast their vote for sheaf of paddy for BNP mayoral candidates.
Khaleda claimed that BNP would win bagging 80 per cent vote if the election was free, fair and neutral manner.
She said people ensured victory of BNP time and again when the party contested elections.
Khaleda said that the ruling party was finding out all kinds of tactics so that BNP did not contest the polls, but this time they made a mistake in the strategy. They did not think BNP would come to municipal elections, she added.
She said through contesting the polls BNP proved that it was an election-oriented party and it wanted to contest in the election and believed in free, fair and inclusive election.
BNP does not believe in one-party election through stuffing ballot boxes, she added.
She said that it was heard that journalists would not be allowed to enter polling centres in municipal polls. If it is true, the aim is to rig the polls, she said.
She urged the journalists to go to polling centres and project the picture inside the polling centres.
She said that it would be proved for the third time that fair election could not take place under Awami League government and people did not accept ‘Hasina style’ and ‘Rakibuddin style’ elections.
Khaleda urged the administration to remain neutral without any fear saying that BNP had no dispute with them.
She refuted Awami League’s propaganda that people in the administration would lose their jobs if BNP came to power.
Khaleda said 24 journalists including journalist couple Sagor and Runi were killed after the government came to power.
Pro-BNP journalist leaders told the function that this was for the first time they had to organise the council session outside the National Press Club because of betrayal of some of some of their colleagues and as the National Press Club was grabbed by the betrayers and pro-Awami League journalists.
Presided over by acting BFUJ faction president M Abdullah the inaugural session was also addressed by Supreme Court Bar Association president Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, secretary Mahbub Uddin Khokon, News Today editor Reaz Uddin Ahmed, former BFUJ faction president Ruhul Amia Gazi and Dhaka Union of Journalists faction president Abdul Hye Sikder.
