BCL’s ‘weird’ protest by splashing blood
Chittagong city unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League staged an unusual protest by pouring their own blood at the entrance of Chittagong government college principal’s office on Saturday.
Their demand is to drive out Islami Chhatra Shibir activists from the college premises.
They administered syringe in to their hands and collected bloods and splashed it in front of the principal’s office.
No classes and exams were held because of the BCL’s weird protest.
It could not be known why BCL chose such a protest.
A total of 29 activists did it.
Before pouring blood on floor, a delegation led by Chittagong city unit BCL general secretary Nurul Azim Rony met principal Jesmin Akter and put forward their eight-point demands.
Nurul Azim said Shibir had men killed many innocent students including activists of BCL men for the last three decades, ‘so we want them out.’
The college is known to be a stronghold of Chhatra Shibir for the past three decades, the student body of Jammat-e-Islami.
The officer-in-charge of Chawkbazar police, Aziz Ahmed, said additional police men were deployed on the college campus to avert any unexpected incidents.
Earlier, on December 16, a clash between Chhatra League, and Chhatra Shibir over placing wreaths at the Shaheed Minar on the occasion of celebrating Victory Day left 10 persons injured from both the sides.
