Justice Shamsuddin tried to turn court into AL premises: BNP
Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday claimed that former Supreme Court judge AHM Shamsuddin Manik had tried to turn the court premises into a ‘centre for implementation of Awami programmes’.
BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office came up with the statements responding to a question from a journalist.
He was asked if former justice Shamsuddin Manik on Monday had claimed that chief justice SK Sinha was now trying to implement agenda of BNP as a spokesman of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Rizvi said people know very well of whom he (Justice Manik) was a spokesman and added that people like Shamsuddin Chowdhury first polluted the higher court.
He said the former judge, Manik, did various misdeeds abusing his power of trial.
Rizvi said when the chief justice was speaking the truth, about rule of law and in favour of constitution, he (chief justice) now became intolerable to them.
He said the nation knew about the misdeeds of Khairul Haque (former CJ) and Manik.
The BNP joint secretary general said words of Manik sounded like those of a butcher, so he faced public wrath in many places.
Rizvi said space for justice in the country’s judiciary system was gradually narrowing.
He said Awami League was a party which created history, but there was not a period of civility in that history.
He said they (AL) had created an era of barbarism in the past and now they created an era of degradation.
