Raufun Basunia remembered

The 31st death anniversary of former student leader Raufun Basunia was observed on Saturday through different activities commemorating his supreme sacrifice during the anti-autocratic movement against military ruler HM Ershad.
As part observance of the day, Shaheed Raufun Basunia Smriti Sangsad placed wreaths at Basunia memorial at Dhaka University in the morning.
Raufun Basunia was general secretary of Dhaka University unit of Jatiya Chhatra League, who was shot dead during a clash between Chhatra Sangram Parishad and activists of Nutan Bangla Chhatra Samaj, backed by military ruler HM Ershad, on February 13 in 1985.
A memorial meeting was also held at playground of Mohsin Hall of the university where speakers said the sacrifice of Basunia boosted the anti-autocratic movement during that time which played a vital role in ousting HM Ershad.
