3 Nigerians among five arrested in city
Members of Rapid Action Battalion arrested five members of an international cheating gang, including three Nigerians, from different parts of the city on Tuesday night.
Based on a complaint, a team of the elite force conducted separate drives and arrested two Bangladeshis – Mohammad Ali, 30, and Manjur Ahmed, 31 – and the three Nigerians – Izuchew Frankin, 30, Obi Hechey, 34, and Ik Fleask, 35, said sources at RAB-2 headquarters.
The arrestees used to become friends with Bangladeshi nationals through Facebook and other social media platforms. Later, they offered them expensive gifts saying a certain courier company will reach the gifts to them.
In the meantime, they used to phone the victims in the name of courier company and tell them that they got a expensive gift for which they have to pay a certain amount of money.
The three Nigerians came to Bangladesh on August 13, 2013 and started clothes trading in collaboration with the two arrested Bangladeshis, added the sources.
