BNP to follow ‘one leader, one post’ policy, says Khaleda

Ahead of her party council, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday announced to reorganise it following the ‘one leader, one post’ policy.
She made the announcement at a views-exchange meeting with Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal in the run-up to the national council of BNP scheduled for March 19.
Khaleda Zia said a leader cannot hold more than one posts at a time.  ‘Some are in Tanti Dal, Krishak Dal and Sramik Dal. That can’t happen. If anyone intends to do the politics of Tanti Dal, he has to do that and if anyone wants to do the politics of Krishak Dal, he has to do that. You have to choose one of them.’
About the permission for using a venue for the national council, the BNP chief said, ‘We’ve seen in newspapers it is being said that there will be no obstruction to the council, but the venue has not yet been given.’
At the meeting, Khaleda Zia portrayed the miserable conditions of weavers, corruption and misrule of the government.
She alleged that the government is harassing BNP leaders and activists through filing ‘false’ cases against them.
Khaleda Zia once again termed the government illegal, saying it is doing everything with muscle power.
Claiming that there is no freedom of press, she said, ‘Newspapers cannot write everything…televisions cannot broadcast everything.’
The BNP chief also alleged that people are not getting justice.
‘There’s no freedom of the judiciary. Judges cannot work independently. It’s evident that they’re being controlled.’
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Tanti Dal general secretary Abul Kalam Azad, among others, spoke at the meeting with Tanti Dal president Humayun Islam Khan in the chair.
