Nor’wester likely in 14 dists, signal 2 for river ports in 9 dists
River ports in several districts across the country have been asked to hoist riverine warning signal 2 amid forecast of temporary west or north-westerly squalls.
West or north-westerly squalls may blow through places in Rangpur, Dinajpur, Pabna, Bogra, Rajshahi, Tangail, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Comilla with the speed of 60-80 km per hours and above, and the river ports there should hoist riverine warning signal 2, said a warning from the Meteorological Department, reports United News of Bangladesh.
River ports in rest of the country have been asked to hoist cautionary signal 1.
Md Giasuddin, assistant meteorologist of the department, told UNB that the warning would be valid till 6:00pm Monday.
Meanwhile, the Met Office has also issued a ‘Kalbaishakhi Warning’ for places in Rangpur, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail, Mymensingh, Faridpur, Dhaka, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Noakhali, Comilla and Sylhet.
Rain or thunder showers accompanies by temporary west or nor’westerly squalls with the speed of 60-80 km per hour or above with hails at places may blow through the regions mentioned above for 24 hours till 6:00pm Monday, said the warning.
