HSC, equivalent exams get underway

The Higher Secondary Certificate and its equivalent examinations started simultaneously across the country on Sunday.
Over 12.18 lakh students under eight general education boards, Madrasah Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board are sitting for the examinations.
The examinations will end on June 9 while the practical tests would be held form June 11 to June 20, reports United News of Bangladesh.
This year, some 12, 18, 628 students from 8,533 educational institutions are appearing at the examinations.
Of them, 10,20, 109 students are sitting for the HSC exams under eight general education boards, 91, 591 students in Alim (Higher secondary level of madrasa) examinations, 1, 02, 132 in Bangladesh Technical Education exams and 4,796 students in Diploma in Business Studies exams.
Some 6, 54, 114 boys and 5, 64, 514 girls are appearing at the HSC
and equivalent examinations at 2,452 centres.
Apart from 2,452 centres in Bangladesh, the exams are also being held
in seven overseas centres where 262 students are taking part.
This year, 11 more papers under six subjects have been included in the newly introduced Creative Question System for the examinations.
Physically challenged students will be given 20 minutes extra time while autistic ones will get 30 minutes.
