Kaniz Fatema Mohsina remembered

Politicians, academics and cultural activists at a commemoration meeting in the city on Friday said that some women played great role in bringing changes in the society remaining at home, but they were not recognised.
Those women should be recognised, they said at a discussion organised by Kaniz Fatema Mohsina Commemoration Committee at Poet  Shamsur Rahman Seminar Hall at Bangla Academy to remember Kaniz Fatema and 32 other ladies across the country who played role in bringing changes in the society helping left politicians.
Dhaka University professor emeritus, Serajul Islam Choudhury, also the committee convener who chaired the meeting, said that we nation must remember the ladies who helped in bringing positive changes in the society.
‘We must recognize the roles of some dignified women who took part in the social changes helping family members and others to take part in the progressive politics,’ Serajul Islam Choudhury said.
Kaniz Fatema, mother of politician Haider Akbar Khan Rano and politician-cum-cultural activists Haider Anwar Khan Juno, died on February 11.
Communist Party of Bangladesh president Mujahidul Islam Selim, Udichi Shilpi Goshthi president Kamal Lohani, language veteran Abdul Matin’s wife Moni Gulnodinee, left politicians Mohasin Shastrapani, Azizur Rahman, Bahnishikha Jamali, former student leader Dipa Dutta,  labour leader of the Tongi industrial area Mominul Islam, labour leader Habibur Rahman’s son, Zahid Ikbal, Haider Anwar Khan Juno’s daughter Ananya Laboni Putul and committee member-secretary Mofizur Rahman Laltu spoke at the discussion.
