RU professor killing: Ex-RU students hold protests in capital

Former students of Rajshahi University on Friday afternoon formed a human chain in front of National Museum in the capital, demanding immediate trial in the gruesome murder of RU professor AFM Rezaul Karim Siddiquee.
Protesters demanded quicker investigation into the killings and unearth the facts behind the killings of teachers and free thinkers.
Condemning the recent killings, they accused the government for failing to stop such attacks.
The killing of free thinkers and cultural activists continue unabated as their perpetrators are seldom arrested, protestors claimed in the human chain.
A former RU student Utshab Mosaddek said, ‘It was a huge loss for us that a very simple, kind hearted and non-political person like Professor Rezaul has been murdered in broad daylight’.
On April 23, assailants hacked to death Rezaul, 58, near his house in Rajshahi city.
He is the fourth RU teacher killed since 2004.
