New UK High Commissioner calls on Khaleda Zia

The new High Commissioner of the United Kingdom to Bangladesh, Alison Blake, called on Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday.
The meeting was held at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in the afternoon and lasted for an hour.
After the meeting, BNP chairperson’s advisory council member Sabih Uddin Ahmed told reporters that it was the maiden meeting between BNP chairperson and the British High Commissioner.
‘The meeting was simply a courtesy call and an introductory one,’ Sabih said as reporters insisted him to respond to if latest political situation and election issues were discussed.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, BNP chairperson’s another advisory council member Reaz Rahman were also present in the meeting.
